PokerStars have announced that their next major online poker series – MicroMillions IV – will include the popular Zoom Poker tables in a tournament format.
MicroMillions IV – PokerStars´ tournament series featuring low buy-ins and big prizes – is scheduled to take place between 14 and 24 March. One hundred events with buy-ins as low as $0.11 will take place over the ten day period having a combined guaranteed prize pool of $5 million and – for the first time ever – including Zoom poker tournaments.
The two Zoom poker tournaments are schedule for Day 1 of MicroMillions IV (event #4) and on Day 4 (event #29) and PokerStars are guaranteeing prize pools of $75,000 and $50,000 respectively. Players competing in the events will have the option to “Fast Fold” their hands and be moved to another table with a new set of cards instantly until the last three tables are reached – when the remaining participants will play out the tournament in the “standard” way.
Other MicroMillions IV Highlights
Other MicroMillions IV highlights include an opening day $1.00 re-buy “Triple-Turbo” tournament with a guarantee of $150,000, two “Sunday Storm Specials” – each with an $11.00 buy-in and a $300,000 prize pool guarantee – and the MicroMillions IV Main Event, which will be played on March 24 and has a guarantee of $1,000,000 for a buy-in of just $22.00.
Although the major events are geared around NL Hold´em, other disciplines of poker are well represented in the MicroMillions IV schedule. Players who wish to get involved in valuable Stud, Omaha and Badugi tournaments will be able to do so and several mixed poker tournaments are included. You can find the full MicroMillions schedule on PokerStars under the tournaments.
Small Stakes – Big Winners
PokerStars MicroMillions may be a relatively new addition to the online poker calendar (the first series was only played last year!), but already it holds the record for the most popular online poker tournament series ever – with 1,308,994 players entering events in MicroMillions III Last November.
The biggest ever individual winner of a MicroMillions tournament is Argentinean poker player “SoyDelGlobo”, who took down the $22.00 buy-in MicroMillions II Main Event in July 2012 for $157,218. “Globo” bested a field of 65,063 players – 8,505 of whom cashed in the event, in which a min-cash was worth $52.05.
MicroMillions IV Player of the Series
A “Player of the Series” competition will again be running throughout the MicroMillions IV in which players will be awarded points based on their finishing positions in MicroMillions events. One hundred prizes are up for grabs, with the “Player of the Series” collecting a handsome Champion´s Trophy and an entry into the Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event worth $5,200.
There is no “weighting” in the points allocation to account for the value of the buy-in or the number of players that take part in an event, so the winner of a $0.11 buy-in NL Hold´em event hosted in the early hours of the morning will be awarded just as many “Player of the Series” points as the Main Event winner – only not as much money!
